The sixth episode of Severance Season 2 brings major revelations and impactful moments. In this Severance 2×06 review, we highlight the most important events and what they mean for the storyline.
1. Mark’s Brain Issue and the Risk of Reintegration
Mark begins to suffer serious side effects from reintegration, including hemorrhages and collapses. As a result, Reghabi’s secret experiment may be accelerating a process that his brain is not ready to handle.
This raises an important question: is reintegration truly possible, or is it always lethal? So far, the signs are not promising.
2. Was the Meeting Between Mark and Helena Planned?
External Mark meets Helena in the real world. But was this a coincidence or a calculated event? Their connection could change the course of the plot, especially since he is getting closer to uncovering what happens inside Lumon.
One crucial detail: Helena might be spying on Mark. She appears in a restaurant that clearly does not match her social status and even tests him by mistakenly referring to his wife as “Hanna” instead of “Gemma.” This suggests she is checking whether Mark is undergoing reintegration.
3. Memory Exchange Between Innie and Outie
Once again, Innie Mark accesses Outie memories and vice versa. This means the barrier between the two is dissolving.
But what happens when Mark finally remembers everything? This transition could be a pivotal moment in the story and drastically change the series.
4. Dylan and His New Family Dilemma
Dylan’s wife prefers his Innie version to the point of hiding from him that she still sees him. This conflict expands one of the series’ biggest questions:
- If Innies and Outies are different people, how much does external life really matter?
- Could the imbalance between his Innie and Outie life push Dylan to a definitive rupture?
Another relevant detail: Gretchen is successful, while Outie Dylan struggles to find direction. This becomes evident when we see an Employee of the Month award in their home, contrasting with her husband’s lack of ambition.
5. Milchick’s Growing Instability
After suffering humiliating punishment, Milchick is more unstable than ever. As a result, he begins to self-punish, raising the question: could he turn against Lumon? Or will this instability make him even more dangerous?
Additionally, he seems obsessed with molding himself to the company’s standards. The scene where he practices using simpler vocabulary and alters his speech pattern indicates he is willing to change even his identity to fit Lumon.
6. Burt’s Religious Past and the Lumon Connection
Burt reveals that his former church taught that Innies and Outies have separate souls. This suggests that Lumon may be involved in something much bigger than a simple corporate experiment.
On the other hand, many questions about this connection remain unanswered.
7. Mark and Helly’s Intimate Reunion
In Episode 4, Mark and Helly were romantically involved during the Lumon retreat, but the circumstances were questionable: while Mark thought he was with Helly, he was actually with Helena.
Upon discovering this in this episode, Helly feels betrayed and deceived, realizing she missed an important moment that should have been hers. This frustration, combined with their growing connection, leads her to seek a new approach to Mark—this time with full awareness of who she really is.
8. Is Helly (or Helena) Pregnant?
Although the show has not given direct hints, some theories speculate that Helly could be pregnant with Mark’s child due to their two key encounters this season.
If confirmed, this would further intertwine the two worlds and have significant consequences for the storyline. However, so far, the show has not explicitly suggested this possibility.
9. Burt’s Lies and His Suspicious Past
The dinner between Irving and Burt revealed inconsistencies in Burt’s story about his time at Lumon:
- Burt mentions he started at Lumon seven years ago but also recalls hearing a religious sermon about Severance when it was still “very new.”
- However, Irving confirms that Severance has existed for at least twelve years.
- Additionally, Burt’s husband, Fields, accidentally reveals that Burt had a “partner” at Lumon twenty years ago, contradicting his version of the story.
This suggests that Burt may have much deeper ties to the company than he lets on.
10. The Symbolism of the Name “Attila”
Burt and Fields call each other “Attila,” a reference to Attila the Hun, a military leader who destroyed empires and was called “the scourge of God.”
If the episode title alludes to him, it may indicate that one of the characters will be responsible for bringing down Lumon.
11. The Final Cliffhanger: Mark Collapses
Mark suffers an apparent stroke after the procedure and falls unconscious. Consequently, this is the greatest threat the protagonist has faced so far.
If he survives, will he finally be integrated, or will he completely lose his identity? Either way, the next step is bound to be crucial for the series’ future.
